My name is Yannis Papadopoulos and making guitars is my passion. As a musician, I was searching for a special instrument to fall in love with. In the mid 80s, I took the decision to create my first instrument. In the course of this endeavor, I have studied the history and technology of the guitar and I have been exploring its potential in construction and sound in order to satisfy the special needs of contemporary musicians. My occupation with restoring instruments gave me the opportunity to comprehend the art of the old masters. Based on the knowledge of tradition, I started actualizing my own proposals in a small workshop in the historical center of Athens. My intention is to express a personal aspect in guitar designing and sound. To each guitar that is born, I give a different name and not a production number. My aim is to create unique guitars to inspire every musician to build a profound relationship that lasts.
“Asami” Guitar. “Asami” means “morning beauty” in Japanese. She is created for Andreas with a rosette especially made for him. For the top I used AAAA Western Red Cedar and for the back Pao Rosa. For the double sides I chose Flame Maple and Pao Rosa, Mahogany for the neck and Ebony for the fretboard. Entirely French polished.
